I realized while listening to it recently (okay, more singing and dancing to it than listening to it) that the joyful feeling the song conveys is quite similar to the joyful feeling I have when both kids are finally in bed for the night and my husband and I are free to spend some alone time together (i.e., play on our laptops while in the same room and watch Netflix).
Read MoreAccording to Wikipedia, "The Twelve Days of Christmas" was originally published in 1780. Which means it's horribly outdated. Really the only items on the list that may be desirable in modern times are the five golden rings, and, I suppose, the nine ladies dancing (if you happen to have singles on you). It's also ridiculously unrealistic - how does one come into possession of so many birds?

My man-eating days are behind me (okay, they never really existed). I'm not sure I've ever even been in a mansion. But, I did ride a horse once at fifth grade camp . . . Anyway, I decided to make a version of the song that other moms like me might be able to relate to. Like Miss Swift's video, it is intended as exaggeration and satire, and not reality.
