Basic Mom Week in Review - 07/26/15

5 Things That Actually Happened This Week and the Lessons I Learned:

1. On the fifth night of staying in a hotel bed, my girls were not getting along, and it was preventing everyone from getting any sleep. My husband constructed this very sturdy pillow barrier between them in an attempt to end their fighting.

Lesson: A pillow barrier will not keep my children from fighting.

2. We took a family road trip to Atlanta for a wedding, and I had the honor of driving the whole way.

Lesson: Road trips are restful for everyone except the driver.

3. I found this picture in the camera roll on my phone after my toddler was playing it, and I have no idea where it came from.

Lesson: My toddler has yet to master eating with a fork, but apparently she is capable of using an iPhone to search for and save images of birds.

4. My dad came over and watched my girls for a few hours, and he brought us all donuts, which was awesome. I found out when I got home that, in addition to the donuts, he also let my 6-year-old eat 3 Oreos and a bunch of crackers, and let my toddler eat 3 Oreos and 4 string cheeses, all in the few hours between breakfast and lunch.

Lesson: The amount of time my dad spends babysitting my children is directly related to the likelihood that they will develop Type 2 Diabetes.

5. The girls and I met some friends at a local splash pad, and I discovered that my toddler thinks the splash pad is one big drinking fountain.

Lesson: The amount of time we spend at the splash pad is directly related to the likelihood that my toddler will develop dysentery.
